Our website is for the people, by the people. The advice and information here is based on the experience and advice of  thousands of people who work in the mining oil and gas industries that use our Facebook page and offer their advice and experience with no strings attached. Just everyday Aussies helping each other out. Here you will find jobs, advice and  information for people of all levels, trying to get into the mining industry.
Be aware of scammer websites  that will try to sell you information, charging anything up to $250 and even offering to help get you a job in the industry, don’t fall for it, we have provided you with all the information you need right here for free and don’t pay $3000 or more for dump truck training, thinking this will get you a job, it won’t. Experience is the easiest way to break into the industry and if you haven’t got that, you need to look at  other ways you can get in. Too many people want the quick and easy way in, for some people, that will work but for the majority of people it’s just not going to happen..
The number one question asked is “how do I get experience?” Unfortunately, there is not one simple answer to this question, it depends on your experience and skills as to what is the answer for you. The advice for someone with no experience, compared to a person with years of civil experience would be completely different and it would be different again, for someone coming from a professional background. To get the answer that is right for you, research as much as you can, ask questions and research some more. Buying tickets does not get you a job and don’t expect a FIFO job if you have no experience. Keep a positive attitude and don’t  despair if you don’t get in straight away, PERSISTENCE, PATIENCE & PREPARATION do pay off in the long run.
Have a mining resume and  APPLY! APPLY! APPLY! and  be prepared to go in at a low level and earn less. The good news, once you’re in,  moving around within a company and the industry is much easier. Work hard, fit in, make a few mates, keep your head down, don’t get involved in politics and  talk to the people in the sorts of roles that you would like to do like operators (excavators, graders, dump trucks, cranes etc) and you might get a chance to move into a more exciting role.
A lot of the problem is greenies simply can’t cope with the pressure of remote work or 12hr days and pack it in before they’ve even finished their first swing. Think about how much money the company has just spent hiring that person; medicals, site inductions and training, only for them to turn around and quit. Hiring people with a bit of experience helps to alleviate that issue. Check out our questionnaire “Is Mining for you”. Look after your mates and stay safe out there.
